The Big 4-0! (Ugh!!)

I made it to a major mile marker in my life. While my actual birthday is the 26TH, there was a party thrown in my honor on the 22ND. (Which is, incidentally, my late Mom's birthday!) What a blast! It was at my friends' Dee and Chris's house.
They had invited lots of friends and made lots of delicious food to snack on. They had also found some "the big 4-0" balloons, some squiggles that said "40" under them that hung from the ceiling and had napkins to fit the occasion as well. The cake was decorated with a miniature slot machine that actually had reels that spun when you pulled the lever and the pictures were of items that would typically be associated with elderly people. For example, canes and false teeth. You get the idea! There were also candles that said "Over the Hill".
My sister Cathy, from Oregon had flown in earlier that evening and after I picked her up at the airport, I took her to my house to freshen up and meet all my pets. We arrived at the party and found all the festivities had begun.
Soon after, I was directed to a specially decorated chair and was told I had to open my gifts. So with cautious anticipation, I sat down and was entertained by all the funny things that were inside the packages. My own sister had made sure I was decorated with several items that I had to wear throughout the night. The photos are a testament to what she did to me! I proceeded to find gifts of wine, a tulip plant, beautiful jewelery, a gift card to Gordman's, a candle, Bath and Body Works soap and funny cards to go along with all of it.

Fun friends! I'm glad that there were actual gifts mixed in with the gag gifts. I wonder if anyone will give me tasty wine when I turn 40 . . .

P.S. Happy birthday, Mom!

I was really glad that I got to be there for the party! It was fun to see the friends I already knew and to meet those that I didn't. And Sandy was a great sport, to wear all of the "junk" that I gave her! Just figured she should be decked-out for the big evening! (Don't worry, she got her real gift the next day.) Much more practical. :-) Cathy

Hey there baby cakes!!! I finally got some time to check out your blog. Where the heck do you find time to write all of this stuff. If you are really bored I got some work for you (ha, ha). I love all the pics of the party. Especially the close up of YOU in your "new" shades. Wow did I get drunk that night.....sorry....but I was celebrating too! I'll try to check this out more frequently since I'm down to 2 days at Farm Bureau now. I got lots of 'jewelry' work to do so keep up the great work on your site. Later girl!
